CELEBRATING THE SCOTTISH-AMERICAN HERITAGE OF KENTUCKIANA

HERITAGE FUND

The Scottish Society of Louisville established a Heritage Fund to encourage and promote the growth of Celtic and Scottish traditions, skill, and arts in Louisville and Southern Indiana. It is an opportunity to advance Scottish heritage and culture through special gifts and bequests.

The Heritage Fund provides financial support to students, performers, athletes and scholars who wish to increase their understanding and participation in Scottish and Celtic culture and arts.

The Heritage Fund is under the direction of the Board of Directors of The Scottish Socity of Louisvlle. A five member Heritage Fund Committee is responsible for the administration and promotion of the Fund. Gifts given to the Fund are separate from the annual operating budget of Society.

Recent grants have been for piping, drumming and harp instruction and competition. In addition grants are available for athletic competitions. Gaelic language studies and educational programs.

NOVEMBER MEETING AND AUCTION BENEFITS HERITAGE FUND

One of the most well attended meetings during the year is the November meeting, when all members are invited to clean out their attics, basements and closets and to bring all of the wonderful treasures they might have on hand or of course, they might find when out shopping!. . to the Auction to benefit the Heritage Fund.

Come ready to buy and come hungry, too, because all members bring a variety of dishes to share during the evenings' fun. The Society provides the meat dish.

A variety of unique items usually show up to be auctioned, from slightly used kilts and kilt skirts, to books, gift baskets, games and decorations for the home. Mark your calendars now to attend the November meeting at 7:30 pm on Tuesday, November 22, 2011.
